Cyprus ranks among the top five European nations for foreign entrepreneurs, according to a new report by William Russell, which assessed countries based on factors crucial to business success, such as startup activity, survival rates, access to funding, collaborative infrastructure, and workforce participation. The UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Switzerland took the top spots, leading in areas like startup investment and workforce engagement. Cyprus, however, shines as a burgeoning startup hub with a high rate of new company creation and above-average business survival rates, making it an appealing option for digital nomads and small businesses seeking a Mediterranean base with EU access. Its primary weakness lies in its limited access to venture capital. Other countries in the top ten, such as Norway, Iceland, and Estonia, demonstrate strengths in areas like stable economies and robust digital infrastructure. The report underscores the importance of attracting and retaining skilled talent, as competitive compensation and work environments are essential for companies seeking to thrive in the global market.
