Wine Festival

Today is the opening day of the Wine Festival of Cyprus which is held in Limassol. This town has been chosen for a reason, as historically, Limassol was the center for wine trade and wine making in Cyprus. This annual event has been established since the year 1961 and ever since then has become a local tradition that attracts more than 100.000 visitors from all over Cyprus and out of Cyprus every year. The festival lasts for 12 days and has various programs scheduled for each day. The motto of this wine festival is 'Drink wine, it gives you life!' Visitors have an opportunity to try and buy plenty of wine on sale, at fixed low costs, as well as local desserts and dishes. Wine Festival is a very cultural event therefore you may meet locals wearing traditional costumes, entertaining guests with local dances and songs as well as theatrical, comedy plays.
