Today the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis has arrived to Moscow with an official visit. His trip will last until February 27 and is extremely important for the relationship between Russia and Cyprus, especially considering the current international situation. The main topic of this visit is to discuss the impact of sanctions that are imposed on Russia and its influence on the economy of Cyprus.
The relationship between Russia and Cyprus within various fields and areas was always very close. The existing sanctions have certainly had an impact on the tourism and agriculture spheres of the island.
A meeting of Vladimir Putin and Nikos Anastasiadis will be held on February 25th. The two leaders are planning to discuss issues of cooperation and sign some agreements. The President of Cyprus is also planning to have a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
