A significant mixed-use development has been proposed for Limassol, featuring a university campus for 12,000 students and medical facilities.
The St Nicholas Hills project, located in the Prastio Avdimou community, will encompass educational institutions, a medical center, rehabilitation services, student housing, research centers, and cultural spaces.
The proposed site is 500 meters south of the Prastio community and partially falls within the Paramali River Natura 2000 protected area, known for its diverse bird species. The initiative aims to revitalize a region severely affected by wildfires in August 2020 and includes plans for over 95,000 square meters of green spaces, along with the planting of 8,700 plant species.
According to the Environmental Impact Assessment Study (EIAS), “the project is anticipated to provide significant advantages to local communities, including job creation, enhanced business prospects, and increased property values.” The development will feature primary and secondary schools, modern educational facilities, and dormitories with sports amenities. The university campus, built on St Nicholas Hills, will provide comprehensive teaching and research resources for up to 12,000 students.
DNP Property Group has applied for planning permission, and the environmental impact assessment is available for public feedback until March 8.
During a recent presentation attended by parliament members, community leaders, and residents, local leaders highlighted the project's strategic importance.
Additionally, plans for two golf courses and large photovoltaic parks are also in the works for the broader area.
